I’ve worked in technology since 2001. Starting out as a web designer, I worked for tech start-ups in Johannesburg and London.
In 2009 I joined Media24 Magazines as their Social Media Manager, with a portfolio of top brands like Huisgenoot, YOU, Fairlady, Men’s Health and Sarie.
In 2010 I joined the Mail & Guardian in a role that evolved into Chief Technology Officer. While there I launched the first Kindle edition in Africa as well as iPad and Android editions of the paper. I also drove the of re-launch of mg.co.za, which has since grown its readership by over 150% and passed 2 million monthly users for the first time in its history.
In 2014 I left publishing to join Publicis Machine, an integrated advertising agency based in Cape Town, as their Chief Technology Officer. While at the agency I oversaw the launch of digital properties for several large multinational brands including Sanlam and PSG.
In 2016 I founded PlainSpeak, a consultancy focusing on the intersection between media, technology and business.
